Dr. Manish Baijal has been a successful surgeon for patients with weight loss issues for over 22 years. It was his idea to do the first scarless neck surgery for Thyroid and Para Thyroid Diseases, and it was a success.
Bariatric surgery for morbid obesity and metabolic disease is another area of expertise. As a result of his success in fixing abdominal wall hernias, he has become a well-known surgeon.

As a result of his more than two decades of service to the medical community, the doctor has been honored with Life Membership in several illustrious organizations, including the Society of Endoscopic and Laparoscopic Surgeons of India (ELSA), the Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endo surgeons (IAGES), the Association of Surgeons of India (ASI), the Indian Medical Association (IMA), the Indian Society of Surgical Gastroenterology (ISG), the Asia Pacific Hernia Society (IFSO).
Both the Asia Pacific Metabolic and Bariatric Surgical Society (APMBSS) and the India-based APHS chapter, the Hernia Society of India (HIS), elected him to the position of Honorary Treasurer (APHS).
Along with other pioneers in the field, he helped establish the Hernia Society of India.
The scientific substance of the Manual, "Minimal Access Surgery: Guidelines and Recommendations," in June 2000, which he helped compile, streamline, and revise, was also greatly influenced by him.
He earned his MBBS from Kasturba Gandhi Medical College in 1992 and his DNB in General Surgery from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in 1996. Following that, he earned his Master of Science in Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science from the National Board of Examination in 2000. Following that, he earned a Fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery (FALS) and a Fellowship from the Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endosurgeons (FIAGES). His further education in Bariatric Surgery was completed at the prestigious Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, USA.
