About Doctor

Dr. (Lt. Gen.) CS Narayanan is a Senior consultant at the Department of Neurology in Manipal Hospital, Dwarka, New Delhi.

He's been working in the same industry for the past 40 years.

After earning his DM (Neurology) from AIIMS in 1998, he spent the next two decades serving as the head of neurology services, education, and research at some of the military's busiest medical facilities.

He eventually became the Deputy Chief of the Integrated Defense Staff after rising to the rank of Lieutenant General, the highest possible for a medical professional in the armed forces.

While serving as Senior Consultant (Medicine) for the Armed Forces Medical Services, he was also the Deputy Commandant and Dean (Academics) at Army Hospital (Research and Referral), the premier super-specialty hospital in the armed forces. (AFMS).

He has extensive experience using botulinum toxin to treat a wide range of movement disorders. In the year 2000, he was a member of the team that successfully performed the first deep brain stimulation procedure for the military.

  • He received the Vishisht Sewa Medal from the Hon'ble President of India in 2009, 2014, and 2015 for his exemplary service to the country.
  • On July 25, 2017, the President of India appointed him Honorary Surgeon.
  • On April 7th, 2017, he briefed the Hon'ble President of India on telemedicine to treat soldiers stationed at far-flung battlefield outposts.
  • He is currently a part of the Neurological Society of India, Indian Academy of Neurology, and the Delhi Neurological Association, as well as the Medical Council of India.

  • On October 5, 2016, he was voted into office as the Army Medical Corps' Colonel Commandant.
  • On July 25, 2017, he was given the title of "Honorary Surgeon to the President of India."
  • Three times, the Honorable President of India presented him with the Vishisht Sewa Medal for Exceptional Service. (2009, 2014, and 2015).
  • Army's highest honor, the Chief of Staff's Award, for 2007.
  • The President of India awarded him the Vishisht Seva Medal in 2014.
