Dr. Trehan is hailed as one of the world's foremost cardiac surgeons, having performed over 48,000 successful open-heart surgeries. His exceptional contributions to medicine have earned him India's highest civilian honor, the Padma Bhushan.
Born in Lucknow, India, in 1945, Dr. Trehan earned his medical degree from King George's Medical University in 1969. Following his residency at Philadelphia's Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, he returned to India in 1971, joining Apollo in New Delhi.
Notably, he established the renowned Escorts Heart Institute and Research Centre in 1988, recognized as one of India's top cardiac hospitals.
In 2009, Dr. Trehan set up the state-of-the-art Medanta - The Medicity Hospital in Gurgaon, home to some of India's leading medical experts specializing in cardiology, cardiac surgery, oncology, and orthopedics.
His groundbreaking work in cardiac surgery revolutionized the treatment of heart disease, emphasizing the significance of preventive cardiology.
