Dr. Das graduated from VSS Medical College and went on to complete an MD from MKCG Medical College Berhampur University in Orissa. Then he did a DM from IRCH (Institute of Liver & Biliary Sciences), AIIMS in New Delhi.

  • Dr. P.K. Das received postgraduate training in medical oncology from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, and has been working at Apollo Hospital, Delhi, for 15 years as head of the Department of Medical Oncology.
  • He has worked for the past 9 years under the direction of Professor Suresh H. Advani at Apollo Hospital in New Delhi, where he is currently unit head of Apollo Cancer Institute.

  • He is the Member of the Expert Advisory Committee on Oncology for six new upcoming All India Institute of Medical Sciences(AIIMS)  Centers, under the Ministry of Health and family welfare, Government of India.

Research and Fellowships

  • At the Conference of Association of Physicians of India Berhampur, Dr. Arun Kumar presented his findings on recombinant erythropoietin and its effect on anemia in chronic renal failure.
  • Presented as a poster at the 11th International Congress on Anti-Cancer Treatment, held in Paris (France) in February 2001 and awarded first prize. This work was done for the first time in India.
  • A case of disseminated fungal infection complicated by pulmonary hemorrhage in a patient with acute myeloid leukemia is described in this report. The presentation, diagnosis and treatment are discussed along with the relevant literature.
  • Extrosseous Ewing's sarcoma of the kidney is a rare form of cancer, published in Urologic Internationals in June 2001.
  • A poster presented in the ASCO_PAN ASIA Cancer Conference held in February 2005 at New Delhi evaluated the role of the oncoprotein C-erbB-2 in squamous cell carcinoma of uterine cervix and its significance in response to treatment.
  • Accepted for publication in Indian Journal of Medical Research, “Analysis of Risk Factors and Cytogenetic Anomalies in North Indian Leukemia Patients” by Dr. A. Sharma (2005).

Awards and Recoginition

  • Role of circulating micromegakaryocytes in CML: He presented a poster in the 11th International Congress on anti-cancer treatment held in February 2001 at Paris (France)and was awarded first prize. This work as been done for the first time in India
