Dr. Sud is currently the Chairman of the Department of Digestive and Hepatobiliary Sciences at Medanta Hospital, making him one of the most prestigious gastroenterologists in India.
After more than four decades of work, he is widely regarded as the pioneer of therapeutic gastrointestinal endoscopy and gastrointestinal cancer research in India.
His primary areas of interest include liver disease treatment, internal medicine, digestive system disorders, GI disorders, abdominal pain, ERCP, bile duct abnormalities, and ERCP, among other things.
The Bharat Ratna Priyadarshini Award was given to Dr. Randhir in 2003.
In addition, the Indian government bestowed upon him in 2008 its fourth-highest civilian honor, the Padma Shri.
In 1977, he graduated with his MBBS from Government Medical College in Amritsar.After that, He got his medical degree (MD) and his gastroenterology degree (DM) from the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi.
He also finished first in his class at the end of his medical schooling.
In 2004, he was awarded the "Master in Endoscopy" gold medal by the Indian Society of Gastroenterology.
The Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, are where he completed additional specialized training.
Dr. Sud has served as an examiner for the Diplomate National Board Examination in Gastroenterology and as a member of the teaching faculty at AIIMS for both undergraduate and graduate students.
He also taught as a visiting professor at institutions like Harvard Medical School (Boston, USA), UTMB (Galveston, TX, USA), and UAB (Birmingham, AL, USA).
He has written for both domestic and international newspapers.
His specialties include gastrointestinal endoscopy, gastrointestinal cancer, and liver disease.
Several newspapers, including Outlook India, Kathmandu Post, and Hindustan Times, have published his articles.
